Trekking Itinerary
The adventure begins
We start the day picking up passengers from their accommodations.
The group travels south by vehicle, passing through Cerrillos and El Carril, then turning west toward Chicoana (a great spot for a horseback ride).
We continue through the lush cloud forest known as the Yungas.
After a few kilometers uphill, we enter the Quebrada de Escoipe, featuring cacti, carob trees, red rock formations, and colorful agricultural terraces.
Arrival at Cuesta del Obispo base
We arrive at Lo de Naticho inn, located at the foot of Cuesta del Obispo, near El Maray.
From there, we begin the hike toward Cerro Torreón.
This viewpoint offers one of the most stunning panoramic views in northern Argentina and is perfect for trekking and hiking lovers.
Condor Viewpoint Trek
We hike along ancient trails.
You’ll witness the vastness and beauty of this spectacular area, which borders the Calchaquí Valleys and stretches deep into the Andes.
Before the ascent, a safety briefing is held. We’ll go over contingency plans, and provide guidance on native flora and fauna, as well as hiking techniques and equipment use.
Rock formations of great geological beauty can be seen from this point.
Continuing the hike, we reach the Condor Viewpoint: a highland plain at 3,000 meters above sea level.
This area features grasslands and in summer, vibrant wildflowers bloom across the trail.
It’s also a vital habitat for the Andean condor. With some luck, you’ll witness their majestic flights.
Picnic in the mountains
Time for lunch.
The group shares a picnic in the heart of the mountains, with breathtaking views of Cuesta del Obispo.
After relaxing and recharging, we begin our descent.
We hike for about one hour to return to the starting point where the vehicle awaits, and then drive back to Salta City.
