Trekking Itinerary
The adventure begins
We start the day picking up passengers from their accommodations.
The group travels south by vehicle, passing through Cerrillos and El Carril, then turning west toward Chicoana (a great spot for a horseback ride).
We continue through the lush cloud forest known as the Yungas.
After a few kilometers uphill, we enter the Quebrada de Escoipe, featuring cacti, carob trees, red rock formations, and colorful agricultural terraces.
Arrival at Cuesta del Obispo base
We arrive at Lo de Naticho inn, located at the foot of Cuesta del Obispo, near El Maray.
From there, we begin the hike toward Cerro Torreón.
This viewpoint offers one of the most stunning panoramic views in northern Argentina and is perfect for trekking and hiking lovers.
Condor Viewpoint Trek
We hike along ancient trails.
You’ll witness the vastness and beauty of this spectacular area, which borders the Calchaquí Valleys and stretches deep into the Andes.
Before the ascent, a safety briefing is held. We’ll go over contingency plans, and provide guidance on native flora and fauna, as well as hiking techniques and equipment use.
Rock formations of great geological beauty can be seen from this point.
Continuing the hike, we reach the Condor Viewpoint: a highland plain at 3,000 meters above sea level.
This area features grasslands and in summer, vibrant wildflowers bloom across the trail.
It’s also a vital habitat for the Andean condor. With some luck, you’ll witness their majestic flights.
Picnic in the mountains
Time for lunch.
The group shares a picnic in the heart of the mountains, with breathtaking views of Cuesta del Obispo.
After relaxing and recharging, we begin our descent.
We hike for about one hour to return to the starting point where the vehicle awaits, and then drive back to Salta City.

Tour Reviews
The tour today was amazing, in everything. Gustavo was super punctual and he drove us save to the starting point of the tour. He is super friendly and with his knowledge of English we had a nice conversation. He gave us a lot of additional information along the road.
The hike was great, with great views and calm nature. We saw condors and mountain pigs and Gustavo explained us a lot about the nature and the agriculture and farms.
The meal was super tasty, we enjoyed all regional specialities and got to know the whole family of Gustavo.
Summary: Great tour with a great guide and landscape.
P.S. Also the booking process and your fast answers were amazing. Thanks a lot.
Excelente!
First quarter of the trek has some nice landscapes and is easy to walk. Mostly downhill.
Second quarter was more country side kind of scenery. Not my favorite but still nice and easy.
Third quarter was the coolest one. Nice sceneries all the way. We climbed on top of a hill and from the top we saw a super nice landscape view. Climbing the hill takes a little bit of work but you are going to leave your backpacks at the bottom and pick them up when you come down again. There are also some structures build by Mayas (or Incas, I can’t remember) and if you have been fast enough on the first half you can go and see some of their wall paintings as well (we did).
Final quarter is the roughest terrain and also most exhausting. Super nice landscapes are on the final quarter as well.
All in all the trek was well worth it even though its hard for those who are not in great shape. Guide was nice but didn’t speak much english. Food was okay too. Bring your own water (2 liters was enough for me) and wear long trousers and you will be fine. I had shorts on and my legs were pretty scratched after the trek because there was a lot of spiky bushes on the path. Be a little conservative with the water unless you bring more than 2 liters.
Animals. Condores and other birds, some farm animals like cows and of course some bugs. Condores were cool but nothing else was too flashy.
I would highly recommend this trek for everyone who are at least in moderate shape. You wont see other tourists on this trek which makes it perfect in my mind.
Graciasssss
This trek is a must for hikers. We loved this experience with Nacho and the hike showed such beautiful mountains and sights. Not a difficult hike but well worth the time if you have time in Salta and enjoy the outdoors. Thank you Nacho for an amazing experience!!
