Salta Rafting is one of the favorite adventure activities in Salta.
Many rivers in Salta province are able to practice this sport. But these rivers depends exclusively for rains in summer, and makes it not regular to do this activity all round year.
This is not the case of fabulous Juramento River. A large and important river that born in the 3 rivers unions: Arenales, Rosario and Guachipas.
Juramento River where Salta Rafting is practiced is dominated and content through various reservoirs and canals as derivatives.
The most importantly reservoir or dam is that everyone knows as “Dique Cabra Corral” Its official name is “Presa Embalse General Belgrano”.
The clear waters leaving the Cabra Corral dam, run between stones, curves and different natural formations, so it has been assigned the degree “River Level III” or Intermediate and the wikipedia explains:
It has medium turbulent waters with waves of no more than 1 meter, eddies dangerous to swimmers and any consideration for boats.
The navigation and requires technical knowledge and there are some important technical steps.

- Should we have experience? There is no need, and they are given an instructive and safety talk before.
- Can I go with my children? yes, they can do rafting from 5 years old and the canopy from 11 years old.

Hicimos rafting ( para mi, por primera vez ). Fue realmente muy divertido. El guia que nos toco ( Roberto) hizo que esta experiencia fuera increible. Dan todo el equipo (neoprene, botitas, casco y abrigo). Los rapidos son nivel 3, tranquilos. Sacamos una excursion que incluia rafting, asado (abundante y muy rico) y tirolesa. Lo recomiendo totalmente para pasar un momento sensacional
La volveríamos a hacer sin dudarlo! muy entretenido, junto a un paisaje admirable (además de haber hasta fósiles de algas marinas y huellas de dinosaurio, en un sector del recorrido). Se debe contratar el servicio en Salta Capital ya que se necesita un mínimo de personas para realizarla, sino no se hace.
Si vas en la trasfer de ellos o si alquilas auto, tenes que tener en cuenta que son 2 hs desde Salta capital. No hay colectivos de línea que te dejen justo en el punto del rafting.
El nivel del rafting que se realiza en este dique es el 3 (“intermedio”). Fue muy divertido, mucha adrenalina, y pueden ir niños creo que mayores de 5 años.
Si no tenes para bañarte, podes alquilar allà toalla, shampoo, etc.
Luego hay asado, muy rico, y ensaladas completas a eleccion (se puede consultar por menú vegetariano). El menú del asado incluye jugo. De todas formas, allá venden gaseosa, cerveza, y helados para agregar al menú.
Hay fotografo que luego vende el CD a $500.
POr último, agrego que ellos te proveen de chaleco, botitas impermeables, casco y traje. Recomiendo LLEVAR TRAJE DE BAÑO para usar debajo de estos trajes. Dictan detalladamente las instrucciones de seguridad antes de subirse. En cada gomón entran 8 personas y el guía
Un aventura maravillosa, a dos horas por un hermoso camino de montaña lleno de paisajes increíbles, llega al río Juramento, dónde la amable gente que maneja el lugar te hace sentir cómodo y seguro desde el principio. Los guías son re piolas y la tienen clarísima. El río tiene 10 saltos nivel 3. La pasamos bárbaro, la aventura dura tres horas y después te llevan de vuelta a la base y te esperan con un asado. Se puede hacer canopy también después de comer. Recomiendo no ponerse los trajes naranjas que van arriba del neoprene porque te moris de calor. Sirven para evitar los jejenes, pero con abundante repelente se evitan igual. Recomiendo llevar eso y protector solar.

Es una actividad tanto para grandes como para chicos y para disfrutar todo el día, con opción de hacer canopy también. Desde Salta se tarda un poco más de 2 horas en llegar, yendo tranquilos (se puede ir con transporte propio o el de ellos) Excelente la atención desde el minuto uno, todo perfectamente coordinado y explicado. Increíble la predisposición del guía, que con humor, hizo que la travesía fuera más agradable aun. Espectacular el asado entre las dos actividades! Además está la posibilidad de comprar el cd con video y fotos. Super recomendable!!
We booked the whole package–transportation from downtown Salta, rafting, BBQ lunch & zip-lining (called “canopy” here). The quality of the equipment, the guides’ leadership (shout out to Stephanie!), the spectacular location, the food, the attention to safety–five stars all the way. Only drawback was the inability to purchase small numbers of the really good rafting photos. Only option is to buy all the photos on a CD for 400 pesos. That’s a bit pricey.
We went here as a family with our 9 year old boy. Our guide Steffy was really nice and professional in instructing us and made sure it was an unforgettable experience. She keept an extra eye on our son and made sure he wad always safe and enjoying the trip.
The rapids are category 2 and 3, perfect for us as beginners. It was still quite wild, do you really felt challenged still.
If you have the possibility for taking a trip with Salta Rafting: JUST DO IT (and bring your kids).
Rafting for amateurs exceeded expectations. Guides were nice and extremely professional. The Asado was top quality, even to Argentinian standards, and Cannopy was the cherry on the cake. Guides were great with children. Would do it again!

Conocer Salta fue un privilegio y no lo hubiésemos logrado sin su ayuda.
Rafting en Río Juramento; Cachi, Cafayate, Tren a las Nubes, y ya en Jujuy: Purmamarca, Maimara, Tilcara y Humahuaca no dejaron de sorprendernos por ser verdaderas reservas culturales y naturales.
Sin lugar a dudas es una oportunidad verdaderamente recomendable.
