Thanks to the technical conditions of the Movitrack vehicles, the “Safari to the Clouds” offers the possibility of combining three incredible places of the Northwest of Argentina in an unforgettable day.
This is a differential service, with services on board, but the route is the same as the tour to Salinas.
Starting the Way to the Clouds
first, we start from our offices at 06.30, the “Road to the Clouds”, following the railways of the famous Train to Clouds, admiring this magnificent engineering work started in the 20s by the Quebrada del Toro up to San Antonio de los Cobres.
Visit the Puna region, on the way to Salinas Grandes
We take the Route 38 along the puna region, where camelids like llamas and vicuñas can be seen, and we arrive Salinas Grandes on the border with Jujuy province.
Cuesta de Lipan
We descend the Cuesta de Lipán, a descent of 2,000 meters in 35 km.
We will see the transition from the desert puna to the fertility of the wettest valleys.
The group arrives to the picturesque Purmamarca, located at the foot of the famous “Hill of the Seven Colors”.

My husband and I did this day trip yesterday. Fantastic ! A great guide and great driver. We stopped at lots of places, were provided with food all along the way. Plenty of photo stops, a good bunch of people and in english as well as Spanish. Would recommend to anyone visiting Salta.
The first day of this tour is absolutely amazing! I cannot stress enough how amazing Juan, our tour guide was! He spoke perfect English and was genially so excited and enthusiastic about what we were seeing! The bus was comfortable and you could even look out of the roof! Also plenty of food was provided which was great!
The second day was completely different. It is not with Movitrack and it is an all in one driver and guide. This was totally different to the first day and not expected at all. The guide wasn’t passionate and the sights weren’t nearly as good… They just seemed to be tourist hotspots. The driver just wanted us to get back to Salta, and didn’t speak clear English, as well as the speaker system being poor.
However, staying in Purmamarca overnight was so worth it, as the 7 coloured mountain looks so different in the morning, compared to at 6pm the night before, which is the time you would see it if you did the all in one day trip.
Overall worth going, but don’t have high expectations for the second day, or try and consider going on from Purmamarca yourselves if this is an option!
Es una excursion imperdible, y mas linda todavia, si la haces en los camiones, tenes una vista increible, ya que una parte del trayecto se hace adentro del camion y otra parte te hacen subir.
Tambien te sirven un aperititivo que esta muy bueno, es para recomendar!
la mejor excursión . Durante el viaje se visitan lugares hermosos, El bus es muy cómodo y el servicio es excelente. desayunamos y almorzamos en lugares muy buenos. Durante todo el paseo tanto el conductor Dante, como el guía Juan estan siempre atentos a que los pasajeros la pasen lo mejor posible… si van a Salta no se pueden perder esta excursión , el Safari a las nubes,. En el viaje hay una sorpresa que no se la pueden perder.
