\nStarting from\u00a0Salta\u00a0<\/strong>to\u00a0Cachi<\/strong>, passing through the\u00a0Cuesta del Obispo\u00a0<\/strong>and the\u00a0Cardones national park<\/strong>, will arrive at lunchtime, after going through the route No. 40 to hear views of extravagant beauty along the river and knowing Calchaqu\u00ed historic villages as\u00a0Molinos<\/strong>,\u00a0Seclant\u00e1s<\/strong>,\u00a0Angastaco<\/strong>, etc.<\/p>\n

It follows by the\u00a0Quebrada de las Flechas<\/strong>, visiting\u00a0San Carlos\u00a0<\/strong>and arrived in\u00a0Cafayate<\/strong>, where spends the night.<\/p>\n

What are the Calchaqu\u00ed Valleys?<\/h2>\n

The Calchaqu\u00ed Valleys are a system of valleys and mountains that extend across the provinces of\u00a0Catamarca<\/strong>,\u00a0Tucuman\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Salta<\/strong>, until near the border with\u00a0Bolivia<\/strong>, which are surrounded by high peaks, as the\u00a0Nevado de Cachi<\/strong>, with 6,700 meters above sea level.<\/p>\n

They were inhabited since pre-Inca times by groups of origin\u00a0Diaguita<\/strong>\u00a0or “Calchaqu\u00ed<\/strong>,” a brave indigenous culture which remained one of the last pockets of resistance before the\u00a0Spanish invasion<\/strong>. The so-called War Calchaqu\u00ed, began in 1562 organized by military chief,\u00a0Juan Calchaqu\u00ed<\/strong>.
\nFor this area passed the\u00a0Inca Trail\u00a0<\/strong>and caravans of llamas\u00a0 from the “Alto\u00a0<\/strong>Per\u00fa<\/b>“. This shows its importance as a trade route between the Andean towns.<\/p>\n

Places to visit in the Calchaqu\u00ed Valley<\/h1>\n<\/div>\n

Cachi and Cuesta del Obispo<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Town pre-existing before Spanish domination. The town kept old houses on narrow streets lined.
\nYou can visit Cachi in 1 day taking the tour to Cachi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Seclantas<\/strong><\/h2>\n

It is called the “Cradle of Poncho salte\u00f1o” because it is a land of experts craftsmen.. The perfect place to buy carpets, ponchos, blankets or fabric in general.
\nIs located on Route 40, on the banks of the\u00a0Calchaqu\u00ed River<\/strong>.
\nAt present, the town revolves around a main street, in houses with galleries and roof covered with cane and mud. It has post office, hospital, craft center, phone booth, warehouses, and is ready to receive tourists.
\nAbout 12 km. outside, is the beautiful and mysterious Lagoon “Brealito<\/strong>“, replete with stories and tales of strange lights, UFOs and monsters. If you want visit Brealit, ask for a private tour from Salta.<\/p>\n

Molinos<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Town founded in mid-seventeenth century and which lies at the confluence of rivers\u00a0Humanao\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Luracatao<\/strong>, 2020 meters above sea level.
